CBE HDR HC35 - Prototyp
The Idea: After the decission to buy at least one Red Scarlet for my next features I found myself into trouble. My Sony Fx1 and my hc1 will not be usefull to use them together with the Scarlet. So I degraded my FX1 to a “behind the Scenes”- and an “interviews with the Staff”-Cam. For my hc1 I wanted another thing. An Upgrade. Make it a featurefull cam for high quality online Stuff.
First thing I did was go to ebay and search for a cheap wide Lense to testdrive my Idea. I found one from Maginon. It’s multi-coated, and has f=28mm, which means Wide. It can focus from 35cm to infinity, which should suite any given tasks for the Test. It shows the focus on the Lens in Meter and Feet, so I can get a good focus by knowing where the thing is to focus on, even without a control-screen, which I don’t have yet. I got a glassScreen I had laying around (I’m searching for the Link where I got it from…), and mounted it inside the Hood of the HC1. Then I checked the length for the best Focus and cut a pipe made out of Paper to this length.
The Lens came with a Lens-Cover, from which I flexed the Bottom with a small drill. I mounted the Cover to the Pipe and taped it to the Lens. Et voila, a Lens-Adapter is born.
I’ve uploaded some pics from this stuff, at the weekend I’ll go outside with my Wife to test it out. Stay tuned for some footage
