RapidRig

Another Project. A FigRig-like thing, very low budget, but very viewable also.

In Use

What we need:

  • A Handlebar for Trekingbikes
  • A Handlebarholder Clamp
  • A Elbow with on side longer than the other one
  • A Screw that fits your Cam’s Mount at the bottom
  • Optional some Foam

What it is:

Do you know this FigRig? That costs more than the most cams it carries? Or this GhettoCam that Stu promotes in his gorgeous book called “the TV Rebels Guide”, that looks like a Frankenstein-Version of Filmgear?
Or this —-cam—-thing—- Raimi invented for Evil Dead?

The Rapid Rig is all that in sexier looking and cheap ;-)

What to do:

Get the handlebar. Mount the Handelbarholder Clamp onto it. The place for the Nut should be facing away from you if you hold it straight.

Now mount the elbow to the clamp.

After that comes the tricky part. The longer side shoud be even if you hold the Rig. Balance the cam that its not pulling to the front nor the back. Mark the position of the mounting-hole of the cam. Now drill the hole, mount the cam to the rig with the matching nut and your done. If your com is not that heavy at all you can also use a elbow that is predrilled, as the forces pulling it down are not that powerfull.

What it does:

Well, a Video is in the making. Till then I have to tell you what it does. First of all it lessens the movement that comes from your shaking hands. It also makes pans easier to manage as you have a much bigger Handle. Well, I guess you have to see it…
