What’s that Red Ray?
Mike Curtis has done some research over there at the NAB and weitten it down at provideocoalition
I’ll give you a shorter Version of it.
The Red Ray is a Player that plays footage up to 4k. From Standard DVDs! It can also play Red-Files directly from CF-Card. Up to 4k again… 4K, 2K, 1080p, 720p, or SD. So Scarlet files should play in 2k I guess…
In Front it loads a DVD, in the back there is a CF slot and plugs for power, FW800, quad HD-SDI and quad HDMI. It’s intended for being able to feed 4K displays…
You can play back more then 2 hours of 4K with 5.1 audio from a DVD-9 disc if the files have gone through a to be announced software (which will ship free with the drive?)
And what do we have to pay? Well. Less then 1k! That’s a really good deal.
