Well,
as I like the Idea to spoiler some of the Things that make Red being Red it's, as I said, not well thought about.

Call it Lame, call it weak, call it not well thought about and you're right every time.

At least someone did himself a shitload of Work to put this Stuff together. And now back to the drawing board Brad Herman (maker of bluedigitalcinema.com). You're a photographer, and your work is not that bad. Come and show us your all improved grungy like Red.com revisited bdc.com and make me say: "Take two looks impressive."

Don't think so, but would like to be surprised.

Well, as the Red one was announced everyone said don't compare the RedOne with cams from Sony (or every other company that produces Cams) as it's only announced, let's wait till it ships.

Compare the RedOne now with actual cams. Sony didn't do a shit about this "Problem". And they won't with the new announced ones, because they sell their Stuff anyway.

Red is to less known. I talked to DPs that didn't even know the R1 is a cam you can buy. They said "lets wait till they ship that thing". As I said they do they didn't belive it. Not till I sent them a link about Che and it being done with R1s...

But okay, let's be fair and wait what any other Company deliveres till then...

And you're right, the products would stand up without all the hype. But don't forget that it isn't any less good with the hype added.

I guess the thing is the products would stand up without all the hype.

I do however think it is a little unfair to compare the RED offers to Sony and others when all these new cameras are just renderings. Most of what is on offer is a year away, who knows what Sony etc are developing and will have out by the time RED start shipping there cameras.

Well, besides the Update Options for R1 users with the Epic X they also dropped the Price for many Brains and gave them a massive boost on the Featuresite.

If it's only more hype is for you to choose.

But take a look at f.i. Sonys Website and se what they want to sell you for a lot more of cash as bleeding edge technology and compare this with the specs and prices shown at red.

For me this one was huge, but didn't make the previous announcement insignificant. Imho it just put a load more of awesomeness on Top of it, which I'm cool with.

And they announced the Price for the Fixed Lens one, which, other than everyone cried about, not really were more expensive. 3K for $3k Brain only. $3750 for the whole package (like the old scarlet, I think) which, with the added features like addable viewfinders and stuff, is imho not to much.

Has there been an announcement? They have released some more pricing and updated some specs which is all fine but this was meant to make the previous major announcement 'insignificant'.

Have I missed something? Is there more to come or is this just more hype from RED?

You're right. The Hype before maybe wasn't good for the Announcement. You're definitely right.

But we have to get used to it that Red as a Company says to us what they are planing way up front. It this would have been Canon. They would have the announcement and everybody would be blown.

I hope the people realize that this a really great Product, never mind the stuff said before.

But yeah. Jim may have gone to far with his hype maschine this time.

And we also don't know if the fixed Lens one will be 3K with all you had in the old Scarlet. But that's a thing only time and Red can tell.

'If Canon or Sony or … would have come up with this out of the blue everyone would have been more than happy with it.'

But Canon or Sony wouldn't spend months telling you that they will be making xyz camera for abc dollars (3k for $3k - remember that?) only to change everything and forget about the original intent of the camera.

RED: 50% great product, 50% hype.
